7/6 ... My faith in humanity has been restored. Everyone pitched in to make this years festivities the best in 11 years. All day long, random and not so random people were asking Jodie and I if we needed any assistance getting things together. Thanks so much for the help guys, the party would not have been half as good with out your help.
28North and FatCityReprise killed it Sat. night, FatCity started the show and 28North brought it home. 28North will be at FarmJammalamma and I'm sure that FatCityReprise will return sometime in the future.
I'll be back soon with pics, If you have any pictures of the party, send me a couple of your best and I'll put them up here for all the world to see. If you have any videos, throw them up on YouTube and have CampKevin (one word) as a key word.
7/8 I have to say that this years party was the cleanest ever, there was very little trash left on our farm. In previous years, it took me weeks to get the place back to its former glory. This year, it only took me a couple of days.
If you had a good time at the 4th Party, make sure to be here Aug. 1st and 2nd for FarmJammaLamma. Where the 4th Party was centered around moto and craziness, FarmJammaLamma will be centered around music. Music in the way that it was meant to be heard... LIVE. Your shitty IPods and tiny home stereos do no justice to the tunes you are hearing. FarmJammaLamma will have 50,000+ watts at our disposal and the sound will be loud and clear for all to hear. Bring enough supplies for a weekends worth of camping and sit back and enjoy.
I'm still working on the pics from the party, and I have zero pics of the fire. Send me yours and I'll put them for the world to see.
The 11th annual CampKevin Fourth of July party is on for July 5th.
This year 28 North is making their triumphant return to CampKevin. They put in a couple of excellent sets last year and I'm sure this year will be no different. 28North is bringing a special guest, Fat City Reprise, straight from Philly. If you like 28 North, you'll like Fat City Reprise.
Like all things at our farm, there is change. Once the music starts, there will be ZERO motorized vehicles allowed. A few meatheads ruined it for everyone throughout the years and my decision is final. We're giving you the gift of live music in a relatively lawless venue, sit back and enjoy the tunes. Nobody wants to hear your machine all night long. If you want to ride all night long, come visit us another time and have a ball.
The track last year also got a bit out of control. It was painfull to watch some of the fast guys put on a real display only to have their line blocked by a much slower lapper. This year we're going to split up the fast and slow guys. The split will be....
C and D class riders will be on the track BEFORE 1pm
A,B and Pro class riders will be on the track AFTER 1pm.
If you don't know what class you're in, you're a slow guy. Don't feel bad, if I was still riding, I'd be with the slow guys.
This should work out pretty well and the fast guys will be able to put on a show for all to enjoy without the risk of landing on a slower guy. Ride times might change depending on turnout.
This year I'm going to have a real water truck to keep the track good all day long. I'm hoping it'll work out because the dust was bad last year and our little watering system fell way short of goals.
I'm also asking everyone to TREAD LIGHTLY!!, take it easy on the trees, rocks, grass and overall infrastructure. The places to ride will be obvious, you can haul ass there, not in front of my house.
Unfortunately, helmets will now be mandatory for all. There were many people riding last year with zero skills and zero head protection.
NO BOTTLES, glass and barefeet don't mix.
Well we made it 10 years with out any rules, it was a pretty good run. The new rules are mostly common sense and shouldn't cramp anyones style.
We will be getting a pig again, so please bring a side dish or dessert. Oh yeah, we'll be having a pretty big fire.
One more thing, we'll be selling tickets to FarmJammaLamma at the party. Save $3.50 off of the internet price. We're putting a major effort into the festival and it'll be a ton of fun.
I'll be back....
6/17 I picked up the first load of wood yesterday, Mark and his badass rig of destruction was able to move a massive amount of wood in 4 hours. I think we already have as much wood as we had last year. This truck was built by Mark to help clean up after hurricane Katrina. The big red Kenworth is so strong, I'm sure that if I had a rope big enough, it would pull the asshole out of the earth. Huge thanks to Mark.
If you've never seen a totally outrageous bonfire, here's your chance. 100 foot flames will be a dissapointment with this years monster. This one will impress even the most seasoned CampKevin 4th of July partier.
6/25 Everything is looking good. I'm going to need a few guys with weedwackers to make the track pretty. If you've got some skills wacking weeds, stop by the track, wack a jump and smile when it looks good at the party. Only the track needs done, stay away from the house. Don't kill the daisys.
6/28 Track is in the best shape I've ever seen it. Gary was over with his dozer and fixed whatever jump faces needed fixed. I groomed the entire track. Track will be closed until the 5th to everyone except for people who work on the track. Mowers, weedwackers and rock pickers are needed. The track will be in tip top shape all week with very few riders so bring your mower, weedwacker or rock picking hands to enjoy CampKevin at its finest. The freestyle landing will be getting major love in the morning and will be great.
Don't forget your camping supplies for the 5th, sleeping in your car is a drag.

7/1 Holy moley! The fire wood is here. I had Big Rig Mark guestimate the tonnage of wood we had for the bonfire. He estimates 12 tons per load, 6 loads = 72 tons of wood. This is air-dried slab hemlock that you could light with a match. I did a quick bit of math and it is safe to say that over 1 BILLION!!! btu's of heat will be put out on Saturday night. I have a 80,000 btu furnace in my house and it makes more than enough heat. The fire will put out almost 13,000 times the heat of my decent sized furnace.
If we were to use gasoline to make the same amount heat it would take 8400 gallons of gasoline, at todays prices it would cost us $35.700!!!.
This somonabitch will be one for the ages. Huge thanks to Mark Collins for the use of his rig to move a serious amount of wood.
....one more thing, bring your camera and post your stuff on the web. Lets show the world that us Pennsylvanians know how to build a fire. When I say "us" that means everyone who helps stack all this wood on Sat afternoon.
Of course we'll be using CampKevin's teepee/birdsnest design to achieve maximum flame height.
Jewell Electric will be bringing their killer bucket-truck to help get the stack nice and pretty.
7/3 Track will be open tomorrow from dawn till 5:00pm. I've never seen the track in such good condition in the 10 years I've had it. Lots of rain and lots of love are soaking into the soil.
